Terms of use

How this platform works and what is expected of the people using it.

1. What Locarya is

Locarya is a platform that helps customers find local service providers and send them booking requests. Providers list their own businesses; customers search, compare and get in touch.

Locarya does not carry out the work. It is not a party to any arrangement made through the platform. Any agreement about the job, the timing or the price is between the customer and the provider directly, and the work itself is the provider’s responsibility.

2. Accounts

You need an account to send a booking request, to message someone, to leave a review or to list a business. You can browse providers without one.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. The information you give — your name, your contact details, and for a provider your business details — should be accurate and kept up to date. Do not set up an account in someone else’s name or pretend to be a business you do not run.

3. Using Locarya as a customer

You can search for providers, look at their services, prices and weekly availability, send booking requests, message a provider about a booking, keep track of a booking’s status, and leave a review after a job is marked complete.

4. Using Locarya as a provider

You are responsible for everything on your listing: your business name and description, the services you offer, the prices you publish, the area you cover, the hours you show, and what you say to customers. Keep it accurate — customers make decisions based on it.

Prices on your listing are indicative figures you publish. They are not quotes and not binding offers, and you agree the actual price with the customer directly.

5. What approval means — and what it does not

A provider listing is reviewed by an administrator before it becomes publicly visible. If it is rejected, the reason is shown to the provider, who can update the listing and ask for another review. A listing can also be put back under review or withdrawn from public view later.

Approval means one thing only: an administrator looked at the information the provider supplied and allowed the listing to appear. It is not a background check, an identity check, a qualification check, a licence check, an insurance check or an endorsement. Locarya performs none of these and makes no claim about a provider’s competence, conduct or credentials. Please use your own judgement, as you would with any tradesperson you found any other way.

6. Bookings and communication

A booking request is a request, not a confirmed appointment. It becomes an arrangement only if the provider accepts it. A provider is under no obligation to accept, and Locarya does not promise that any request will be accepted, or that an accepted job will go ahead or be completed successfully.

Either side can cancel according to the rules the platform enforces. A provider cancelling a booking they had accepted must give a reason, and so must a customer cancelling one that was due to have started.

Messages between a customer and a provider are private to those two people. There are limits on how many booking requests you can have open at once and on how quickly requests and messages can be sent, so that the platform stays usable for everyone.

7. Reviews and content you post

A review can only be left by the customer whose booking was marked complete, and only once for that booking. Reviews appear publicly under the reviewer’s display name.

Providers cannot edit, hide or delete reviews about themselves. An administrator can hide a review; a hidden review stops being publicly visible and stops counting towards the provider’s rating.

Do not post anything false, misleading, abusive, threatening, defamatory, unlawful, or unrelated to the service you received. Do not post a review in exchange for payment, and do not ask anyone else to. You keep ownership of what you write, and by posting it you allow Locarya to display it on the platform.

Moderation is carried out by a person, not by an automated system. Locarya does not check every review before it appears.

8. Things you must not do

Do not use Locarya to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else break it;
  • impersonate another person or business;
  • defraud or mislead anyone, including about who you are or what you offer;
  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone;
  • send unsolicited advertising or spam;
  • manipulate reviews, ratings or bookings, whether your own or anyone else’s;
  • get at data that is not yours, or try to;
  • get around the platform’s access controls or security measures;
  • upload malicious code, or use the platform to distribute it;
  • automate abusive volumes of activity.

9. Availability of the platform

Locarya is under active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and the platform may be unavailable at times, planned or otherwise. We do not promise that it will always be available or always work as expected.

10. Security

Locarya uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the platform and the information it holds. No online service can promise perfect security, and we do not.

If you believe you have found a security problem, please get in touch rather than testing it further. Do not attempt to access other people’s data.

11. Fees

Locarya is currently free to use for both customers and providers. There is no booking fee, no commission, no subscription and no charge for listing a business.

The platform does not process payments, hold money, or handle refunds. Payment for the work is arranged and made directly between the customer and the provider, on whatever terms they agree. Nothing here creates a refund or cancellation-fee arrangement, because the platform operates none.

12. Changes to what Locarya offers

Locarya may introduce additional services or ways of funding the platform in future. None is in place today: there is currently no advertising on the platform and no third-party advertising or analytics tracking of any kind. If that changes, these terms and the privacy information will be updated first, and the change will be described plainly rather than introduced quietly.

13. Intellectual property

The Locarya name, the platform itself, its design and the content we publish on it belong to the platform’s operator.

What you supply stays yours — your business details, your description, your photographs, your messages and your reviews. By posting them you allow Locarya to host and display them for the purpose of running the platform. Only post material you have the right to post.

14. Suspension and termination

An administrator may suspend an account for serious misuse or breach of these terms. Suspension takes effect immediately, including for a session that is already signed in.

A suspended account keeps working as an ordinary visitor — you can still browse the public site — but signing in no longer gives access to bookings, messages, reviews or provider tools, and a suspended provider’s listing stops being publicly visible. A suspension can be lifted by an administrator.

You can stop using Locarya at any time. Some records may need to remain where removing them would damage another person’s record — the privacy page explains this in more detail.

15. Third-party services

Locarya runs on infrastructure operated by other companies, including hosting, database and email-delivery providers. They process information on the platform’s behalf in order to make it work.

Which providers these are, and the arrangements governing them, must be set out properly in the privacy information before launch. That is listed there as an outstanding item.

16. Responsibility and liability

17. Governing law

18. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the platform changes. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date below shows when it was last revised. Where a change affects how bookings, reviews or listings work, this page is updated to match what the application actually does.

Last updated: 25 September 2026

19. Contact

You can reach us through the contact page. A published contact address for formal or legal correspondence is part of the outstanding decisions above.
